Hi,

        Err, we should not have to use .kerelrelease, since we should
 be  keeping track of all the components that go into KERNELRELEASE.
 and kernel release is not the same as extraversion; 
  kernelrelease = $(KERNELVERSION)$(localver-full)

        We can't just blindly use kernelrelease if we are still to
 honor --append-to-version, since  we append to extraversion, not at
 the end of all local version stuff.
