- eject apparently needs to be run as root for this task --> I reluctantly SUIDed it (gnome-volume-manager calls eject as my regular user, maybe because it works for CDs.) - udev would remove the device node on unmount, before the call to eject -> I set a static device rule If anything, this is a bug in gnome-volume-manager.
