Indeed, it doesn't look easily reproducible. First of all, are you using any particular plugins? The symptoms you describe could be caused by a hanging thread. Getting several backtraces of all threads when this behaviour occurs and seeing which threads don't act at all would be a way to detect where this is happening. -- .''`.
