Good evening,
I've submitted the file in question to numerous AV vendors (Sophos,
Avast, Microsoft, McAfee, BitDefender, PandaSecurity, ...) and so far
all I've heard back from have removed offending signatures from their
databases or at the very least whitelisted the file. The latter of
course is only a very temporary solution. I still hope the maintainer
decides to move the file to a separate package, since I'd expect this is
going to be a persistent problem.
For us this causes issues because our installation media contains nmap
as part of a rescue system. This flags the whole ISO as infected. For
tech savvy people this is an annoyance, for non tech savvy people this
is a major obstacle when they're desperately in need of assistance already.
