Dear release team, As we already discussed in the past, cloud-init is, to the cloud world, like a hardware driver, but for different cloud provider. Right now, cloud-init/18.3-6 lacks some features which are needed for example by the Azure cloud. The Debian cloud team has discussed this for a long time, and we feel like upgrading Buster to cloud-init/19.3-1+deb10u1 is the right way to go for Debian. We haven't done enough testing with this yet, though we would like to have the release team acceptance on principle, so we can start this process. This process would include: - Rebuilding images for the 4 clouds (ie: Azure, AWS, GCE and OpenStack) - Test booting such images on these 4 clouds - Test ssh to the instances, to make sure the ssh key is correctly set On our view, manually testing all of the above would be enough to make sure we don't upload a broken cloud-init to Buster. Note that this setup looks like already working under Testing right now. Best regards, Thomas Goirand (zigo)
