Severity: normal

Hello modemmanager maintainers,

I've tested version 1.12.4 of modemmanager in the context of supporting
updated heuristics that won't snatch embedded developers' serial
terminals in some situations[164].

Steps I had to do to get 1.12 running:

* uscan in the new package
* Disable libQMI (--without-qmi; would need 1.24, so for a full
modemmanager 1.12 libqmi will need updating as well)
* Rip out gensymbols (I just needed to verify that [164] can be solved
  in 1.12).

With that, I got a ModemManager that indeed did not display the
problem[164] of the 1.10 version any more. (I couldn't verify that it
all *works* as I don't have a modem, but it did probe the USB device I
built to mimick a modem during [164] verification).

Some bycatch from when I tried to find the QMI build error:

* --with-suspend-resume=systemd is now --with-systemd-suspend-resume=yes
(the old config option went away in 1.8, and has now raised a
  warning).

Kind regards
chrysn
