I dont really understand this: why the autopkgtests have sphinx (and its related packages) in the control file, while the main source package doesnt build-depend on it? from the build log we can even see: checking for sphinx-build... no configure: WARNING: No sphinx-build, won't be able to regenerate docs so maybe the autopkgtests dependencies could be adjusted to remove python-sphinx (and the other packages)? this will help reduce the number of reverse dependencies for python-sphinx and help possibly dropping that package.
