Out of interest, was there any progress with this? I cannot help actually (but in my understanding Pirate proposed help), and my question is backgrounded on seeing gitlab itself on the worry to see in unstable an ancient gitlab version and the need of tracking the open CVEs as per https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/source-package/gitlab .
