You're right.

But, at the same time, as I mentioned in the original report, other
Qt-based applications are unaffected by the presence of libgtk3-nocsd0
in LD_PRELOAD.

And, additionally, the issue is not reproducible in the vanilla 3.0.8
version of vlc built from source.
So my suggestion is this has something to do with either Debian
packaging and/or custom patches.

As I said, I'm running Devuan 3 (Beowulf) which uses packages from
Debian Buster unaltered.
