Thanks for already forwarding upstream, let's see what will happen there. Just a clarification, AFAICS this is valid troff as well, and probably the submitter assumed that sequence does not appear anywhere else and use it for identification: https://github.com/file/file/blob/master/magic/Magdir/troff#L17 Sorting this out is not an easy job.
