upstream has released 1.1 of thinkfan last month, and it would be great to package it for Debian, as it fixes the issue of changing hwmon names between reboots. I'm currently fixing up the package myself, so if you migrate the git repo to salsa I could send a PR your way. Let me know if you're interested.
