Turns out that now everyone (who runs apts testcases or something
comparable) is affected as dpkg has increased its support for DPKG_ROOT
which now causes architectures of the dpkgroot to be reported while the
hookscript tries to add/remove links on the host system and of course
fails to do so (see #964475).

I have a workaround for #964475 so that this bug won't block the transition
of dpkg to testing, but it would be nice if we could eventually resolve
this here as I feel kinda dirty working around and ignoring failures,
especially after reported this four years ago already.
