Actually, the troglobit editline version is not the upstream for this Debian package. It rather includes the Debian changes. Andreas's request is actually a request to change the upstream to troglobit's version. Alternatively, the editline could be removed in favour of libedit. There are only two users left: mathomatic (see #966331) and ftp-ssl.
