Hi, thanks for the info, This is a duplicate of #968955, so I am merging both bug reports. This is due to a change in Emacs ispell.el introduced in https://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/emacs.git/commit/lisp/textmodes/ispell.el?id=97b78542f60d1079a8407da5e1974d064951fb3d to remove some ancient compatibility stuff.
