Package: synaptic Version: 0.53.4-6 synaptic does not display the version part of the dependency when there is an unresolvable dependency. When I tried to install evince, for instance, it displayed
evince: Depends: libgtk2.0-0 but 2.4.14-2 is to be installed whereas apt-get displayed the following evince: Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.6.0) but 2.4.14-2 is to be installed Note how much more sense the latter message makes. -- Matt
