Package: easyssh Version: 1.7.4-1 Hi,
citing from https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=972462#10: > I plan to provide /usr/bin/easyssh via update-alternatives tool. This > is better than making a plain symlink. This is just wrong. Use dh_link for symlinks. Or even better: Just rename that binary as our users expect it and as FTP-Master requested it. > It is almost sure that someone will try to provide /usr/bin/easyssh in > another project sooner or later since this is a good name. This is _NOT_ what the alternatives system is for. The alternatives system is solely for implementations of the same functionality and at least generally the same commandline parameter syntax. You can neither expect that an arbitrary other project called easyssh would provide the same functionality nor that it would have the same commandline options, etc. Please read the Debian Policy about what the alternatives system is for: https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ap-pkg-alternatives.html -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (600, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'buildd-unstable'), (110, 'experimental'), (1, 'experimental-debug'), (1, 'buildd-experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 5.7.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads) Locale: LANG=C.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages easyssh depends on: ii dconf-gsettings-backend [gsettings-backend] 0.38.0-1 ii libc6 2.31-4 ii libgee-0.8-2 0.20.3-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.66.1-2 ii libgranite5 5.5.0-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.24.23-2 ii libjson-glib-1.0-0 1.6.0-1 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.46.2-1 ii libvte-2.91-0 0.62.0-3 easyssh recommends no packages. easyssh suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
