I upgraded network-manager and network-manager-gnome to version 0.6.2-1
today, along with wpasupplicant 0.5.2-2 from experimental, and WPA still
isn't working with NM.
I have two available secured wireless networks: a WPA-PSK network from
a D-Link DI-504 running its latest firmware, and a WPA2-PSK network from
a Linksys WRT54GL running OpenWRT. Both of these work fine when
wpasupplicant is left to find and associate to networks on its own, but
when under the control of NM, when I try to connect to one I get an
error message: "The requested wireless network requires security
capabilities unsupported by your hardware."
Here's what I see in syslog when I try to connect:
Activation (eth1) started...
Activation (eth1) Stage 1 of 5 (Device Prepare) scheduled...
Activation (eth1) Stage 1 of 5 (Device Prepare) started...
Activation (eth1) Stage 2 of 5 (Device Configure) scheduled...
Activation (eth1) Stage 1 of 5 (Device Prepare) complete.
Activation (eth1) Stage 2 of 5 (Device Configure) starting...
Activation (eth1/wireless): access point 'mywlan' is encrypted, but NO
valid key exists. New key needed.
Activation (eth1) New wireless user key requested for network 'mywlan'.
Activation (eth1) Stage 2 of 5 (Device Configure) complete.
It looks like it's ready to request a password, but no password prompt
appears. And if I choose "Connect to Other Wireless Network" from the
nm-applet menu, WPA is not listed as a choice in the security dropdown.
In case it helps, I'm using an ipw2200 with driver version 1.0.8 (the
version included with kernel 2.6.15) and firmware 2.4 (the latest
firmware supported by this driver version).
