I thought about some x11 vs. wayland difference but a) my VM says x11 anyway and b) it looks like you use drivers outside of Debian for some graphic chips of a company I am not going to name... which apparently then forces x11 anyway. Long story short: works here. Just thinking out loud: Some extra clipboard stuff or stuff doing something with the clipboard running? But then it might also happen on the context menu...
