It would have been sufficient to drop me an email to notify me
the new version is out. I usually check upstream for a new version
every now and then and last time I checked was just some weeks
ago.

And why should the binary installed into /bin when that folder has
been abandoned with the usr merge? Binaries are supposed to use
/usr/bin these days [1].
