 The mentioned symlinks are leftovers, sorry for that. Man pages are
no longer exists for VICE, see the 3.5 release news [1]:
"Another bunch of files were removed because their content was
hopelessly outdated and/or could be moved to other files:
 - removed the MAN pages. Read the html or pdf manual instead."

 Wasn't the 'dummy' files always there? Need to investigate. Those are
meant for placeholders for the source and its installation scripts.
The original binary files are still non-free unfortunately.
I think I've documented that if you are the only VICE user, the best
place for the ROMs is in the ~/.local/share/vice/ directory.
