Hi and sorry for taking so long time to answer. You normally do not need to add autoload because gnuserv configuration file is automatically loaded upon emacs startup (this file is /etc/emacs21/site-start.d/50gnuserv.el). It adds an auto-load that I believe is broken by explicitely loading library "gnuserv".
Please could you confirm your setup works only with following line in
your emacs initialization file :
(gnuserv-start)
