Doesn't matter which version ;-). Note that the Gnucash developers have
closed this issue saying that different descriptions should be used
instead (as you suggested). It's not as powerful as being able to scroll
through the various transactions you might have with a particular
vendor, and you might not know you'll have need for various descriptions
when you're filling out the first one, but it'll do for now.

Letting mere mortals muck with the system? ;-) I don't know if that's
such a good idea. If you do this, you really need to say that the
commands need to be at the top of the message and need to be separated
from the rest of the message by a stop word like "thanks". I just read
http://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control to make sure I didn't gum
things up, but many users wouldn't have done that.

Anyway, hopefully I got the tags right ;-).
