Package: emacs21 Version: 21.4a-3 Severity: important
I just upgraded to X11R7 that became available in unstable and emacs now fails to find fonts and display something readable. Here is what it prints at startup $ emacs Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-courier-medium-r-*-*-*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-*" to type FontStruct Warning: Unable to load any usable ISO8859 font Warning: Cannot convert string "-*-helvetica-medium-r-*--*-120-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" to type FontStruct Warning: Unable to load any usable ISO8859 font Warning: Unable to load any usable ISO8859 font $ Once started, all characters are replaced with boxes. I suppose it is related to a change of font path in the new X release but do not know how to fix the problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-1-686 Locale: LANG=fr_FR, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR (charmap=ISO-8859-1) (ignored: LC_ALL set to fr_FR) Versions of packages emacs21 depends on: ii emacs21-bin-common 21.4a-3 The GNU Emacs editor's shared, arc ii libc6 2.3.6-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libice6 1:1.0.0-3 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libjpeg62 6b-12 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libncurses5 5.5-1.1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-5.1 PNG library - runtime ii libsm6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 Session Management library ii libtiff4 3.8.2-1 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii libungif4g 4.1.4-2 shared library for GIF images (run ii libx11-6 2:1.0.0-6 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxmu6 1:1.0.1-3 X11 miscellaneous utility library ii libxpm4 1:3.5.4.2-3 X11 pixmap library ii libxt6 1:1.0.0-4 X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii xaw3dg 1.5+E-10 Xaw3d widget set ii xlibs 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 X Window System client libraries m ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3-11 compression library - runtime emacs21 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
