Hi When you are referring to "grabbing memory" how much are you expecting mate-panel to use? Is it much more than what the mate-panel use to use in other X servers? I can see that mate-panel use some 70 to 100 MB memory but since I have no knowledge about this software I cannot tell whether that is a lot of not.
