Type into the search bar: network.http.spdy.enabled.http2 Double-click the entry to toggle from true to false
I have no idea whether this has any side effects, but it will allow a connection to gmail.
This will fix the problem tgemporarily. Discovered by some folks over at
the Mozilla-Thunderbird forum.
