+1 Please consider prioritizing this request. Passing Dpkg::Options::= is not intuitive and does not even stand out in man pages when searching for a solution. The ability to restore clean or missing config files with a simple additional argument to apt would make a world of difference to many; something short like:
$ apt reinstall --conf Thanks! -Tom Wizetek
