if this indeed fixes the problem, then the bug you were experiencing
was one of a family of problems caused by debian using a different
version of the adodb php library. in the past couple weeks the upstream
maintainer has been working with us to find a patch to cacti that
takes these differences into account and the deb i have on my
p.d.o site contains this patch. i hadn't uploaded it yet because
i haven't heard back from any of the original bug reporters that it
solves the problem.
so, if this does indeed solve your problem, i'll go ahead and upload
it in the next few days (i'll check back with you before doing so)
