hi radu, having taken the time to finally sit down and look over this, i completely agree. i think as you suggest the ip address may be an even better solution than the hostname, but at least i'll start with hostname -f and keep dbc_dballow set to localhost if dbc_dbserver is also localhost.
i'll see about getting this uploaded tonight.
