Adding superficial autopkgtests to shared libraries is a surprisingly
effective way to detect packaging regressions before upload, so I've
been contributing them to various library packages. I wrote a test for
libjpeg-turbo while looking at #994835.
(Of course, if the maintainers of this package are able to add more
thorough test coverage, that would also be a useful way to detect
regressions in the library itself - but that's outside the scope of this
wishlist bug report.)

thanks for this and other work on libjpeg-turbo contributed today. I really need to create free slots for working through my DMD. I will prioritize the uploading fixes for the RC libjpeg-turbo issues ASAP (hopefully at the weekend).
