The stable release managers will not accept a bug-fix for stable until the same bug has been fixed in testing/unstable. I was hoping that upstream would release a GTK 3.24.31 sometime soon, but there seems to be no sign of that, so I'm now preparing a new revision of 3.24.30 with a (huge) patch series including this change. After this has had some testing in testing/unstable, we can backport to stable. It seems that this bug occurs when GtkSearchEngineModel is the only backend returning results, so a workaround is to have have a second search backend available (I don't know what this means specifically, but presumably a full GNOME desktop might have a second backend, otherwise this failure mode would have been seen more often). smcv
