Package: enlightenment
Version: 0.24.2-8
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Starting instances of gkrellm or qmmp inside an Enlightenment Xorg session
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
Logging in, into Enlightenment via GDM3 and starting instances of gkrellm
or qmmp
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Enlightenment process takes up to ~99% CPU cycles of one core, viewing
this with top or htop
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
     Enlightenment taking less CPU cycles

Enlightenment from Debian/testing takes too much CPU cycles running instances
of gkrellm or qmmp.

I usually start up to eight instances of gkrellm for my virtual machines and
starting those gkrellm
processes inside a Enlightenment session, issues full load to one CPU core (Two
gkrellm program instances are enough). The same applies to the program qmmp,
which also issues high load to the machine.

I have started gkrellm under gnome-session (Wayland and Xorg) where this
problem does not occur.

I would be very gladful if this issue could be resolved, since I like the
Enlightenment window manager very much and would like to continue using it. It
is a very flexible window manager where everything I need to tweak can be
tweaked and is also looking very good!

The version of Enlightenment used is: 0.24.2-8.

I tried fiddling around with the composer settings of Enlightenment, but none
of the settings I have tried could fix the problem. I am still using
Enlightenment with graphics card acceleration enabled — I also tried software
rendering, but the above issue persists.

Maybe you can try the above steps on your own machine.

Thank you in advance for your kind attention.

With very best greetings from Leipzig,

Adrian Kieß
