Unfortunately never versions than the one currently in testing
(2021.05.27) can not be easily packaged, since new versions require
Apache Arrow which is not (yet) available in Debian [0]. A package for
Arrow has been prepared [1] but I am not willing to maintain this large
software dependency -- which is very actively developed with potentially
breaking API/ABI changes -- on my own so I am currently refraining from
uploading it. I have handed my preliminary work over to the Debian
Science Team.

The backport of the libfmt support update is too much of a hassle to
port to an old version that is unlikely to be used by anyone as VAST
development also moves too fast to be OK with Debian's update routine.

I suggest to let VAST drop out of testing until Apache Arrow is
available, so it does not block your transition.

Cheers
Sascha
