Just for your information.

The bug actually occures when http_proxy is set to a special value in
the environment of the calling agent. My gnome environment for unknown
reasons sets http_proxy when using "root terminal" (which uses gksu) to
something like "http:///"; and this makes apt-get (and aptitude) to
submit http requests containinh full URIs (including the host name) even
if sources.list is perfectly valid (and actually works after unsetting
http_proxy)
