Hi, it is confusing if a messagebox is apearing, that tells it cant read personal configuration, but nevertheless logs in. To change this behavior gdm.conf must be changed such that groupwritable directories are alowed, that means: set RelaxPermissions=1 in section security in gdm.conf. if not present insert it. thats it. as you have groupwritable homes by default, gdm should not complain about them - and they are no security hole with user private groups, as stated before.
