Package: adduser Version: 3.121 Severity: important (inflated severity so that we don't miss it, it's 'just' a docs issue)
Adduser should be - in the docs - more clear about that it is trying to be a Debian-specific policy layer around the lower level tools and that it aims to be usable especially in maintainer scripts without any scaffolding such as testing, error suppression and other conditionals. We will add whatever flags we need to add to adduser to make that work, and we consider the actual NEED for such scaffolding other than checking for presence of executable in postrm a bug and encourage people to file bugs requesting features to allow that.
