Package: qemu-system-data Version: 1:6.2+dfsg-2 Severity: serious User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts replaces-without-breaks
Hi, during a test with piuparts and DOSE tools I noticed your package causes removal of files that also belong to another package. This is caused by using Replaces without corresponding Breaks. The installation sequence to reproduce this problem is apt-get install qemu-system-ppc/stable # (1) apt-get install qemu-system-data apt-get remove qemu-system-data # (2) The list of installed files at points (1) and (2) should be identical, but the following files have disappeared: /usr/share/qemu/bamboo.dtb /usr/share/qemu/canyonlands.dtb This is a serious bug violating policy 7.6, see https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#overwriting-files-and-replacing-packages-replaces and also see the footnote that describes this incorrect behavior: https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#id13 The qemu-system-data package has the following relationships with qemu-system-ppc: Conflicts: n/a Breaks: n/a Replaces: qemu-system-ppc (<< 1:6.1-4~) Looking at the package relationships of qemu-system-data I see the following additional inconsistencies: * The Provides: qemu-keymaps lacks corresponding Conflicts+Replaces: qemu-keymaps * The Replaces: qemu-system-common (<< 1:2.12+dfsg-2~), qemu-system-ppc (<< 1:6.1-4~), qemu-system-sparc (<< 1:4.2-4~) lacks corresponding Breaks: qemu-system-common (<< 1:2.12+dfsg-2~), qemu-system-ppc (<< 1:6.1-4~), qemu-system-sparc (<< 1:4.2-4~) >From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): 0m29.8s ERROR: FAIL: After purging files have disappeared: /usr/share/qemu/bamboo.dtb owned by: qemu-system-data /usr/share/qemu/canyonlands.dtb owned by: qemu-system-data 0m29.8s ERROR: FAIL: After purging files have been modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/qemu-system-ppc.list not owned cheers, Andreas
