When I try to install sssd, I see:

python3-ldb : Depends: python3 (< 3.10) but 3.10.4-1 is to be installed
python3-sss : Depends: python3 (< 3.10) but 3.10.4-1 is to be installed
python3-sss in sid or bookworm depends on a python version that is no
longer available for bookwork or sid.
so python-defaults was changed, but ldb was never built against it, so
sssd can't build either (python3-ldb has the same dep issue)
