I did a quick-and-dirty, *non-free*, package of pnpm (made out of bundled
pnpm tarball)
https://salsa.debian.org/kapouer/pnpm

Allowing pnpm to build itself won't be easy, though, and will come with a
huge load
of bundled / non-bundled dependencies.
