Package: ncurses-term Version: 6.3+20220423-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
Terminfo entry jfbterm should not be linked to kon. It causes CJK (Chinese, Japanes, Korean) environment showing weird characters. The original terminfo entry jfbterm from it's orignal tarball 0.4.7, could be found here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jfbterm/0.4.7-9 and it should be created by something like: TERMINFO=/usr/share/terminfo tic terminfo.jfbterm If /usr/share/terminfo/j/jfbterm is linked to /usr/share/terminfo/k/kon, once jfbterm is run with CJK environment, the window pane separators are all qqqqqq and xxxxxx, as shown in this photo: https://groups.google.com/group/ocs-clonezilla/attach/66972702fe2c/PXL_20220530_160635485.jpg?part=0.2&view=1 The correct one should be like this: https://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-live/doc/01_Save_disk_image/images/ocs-11-2-save-progress-2.png Hence it's recommended to extract the file "terminfo.jfbterm" from jfbterm_0.4.7.orig.tar.gz, and use tic to compile it. Or please do not link it to kon so that in the CJK environment, the window pane can be shown correctly. If user want to use jfbterm, just package it by himself/herself, and the correct terminfo.jfbterm can be used. My 2 cents. Thank you very much. -- System Information: Debian Release: bookworm/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.18.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/6 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages ncurses-term depends on: ii ncurses-base 6.3+20220423-2 ncurses-term recommends no packages. ncurses-term suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- Steven Shiau <steven _at_ stevenshiau org> Public Key Server PGP Key ID: 4096R/163E3FB0 Fingerprint: EB1D D5BF 6F88 820B BCF5 356C 8E94 C9CD 163E 3FB0
