Dear Maintainer,
I don't know if you care about this, but an error message asks to do a "yt-dlp
-U"
please report this issue on https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues?q= ,
filling out the appropriate issue template. Confirm you are on the latest
version using yt-dlp -U
I wouldn't say that I wouldn't care, but yes my goal is to greatly limit
patches added to yt-dlp. That being said, I don't think it's even needed
here at all.
When you run `yt-dlp -U` it checks online if you're running the current
version and will print out the latest version online and your local
version. If you install via pip/package manager, it detects this and
tells you to upgrade using those methods:
Latest version: 2022.07.18, Current version: 2022.07.17
ERROR: It looks like you installed yt-dlp with a package manager, pip or
setup.py; Use that to update
As such, the initial error message basically just tells you to check your
local version and that it matches the current release, which seems ideal
to me.
