Hi yes, this was a friendly transition and Jesse and I have already
discussed it.

The background is that I'm the original author of the SDL Sopwith port but
handed off to Jesse some time back after I lost interest. It's always been
my intention to return to the codebase at some point and I recently became
interested again - particularly because there were things like the
dependency on SDL1 that you mention that badly needed updating. Jesse
agreed with my decision and has also been contributing some documentation
updates to the new release.

Hope this helps clarify things!
