I made an NMU upload of 1.38.8 last week. It is still sitting in NEW but should hit sid before long. I'm attaching the diff -- you can use it against the stock sf.net tarball of 1.38.8. I started from the sources Jose had posted on sourforge, but there were some bugs in them that would cause the package to fail to build and install in most cases.
