Package: libtext-string-hexconvert-perl Version: 0.01-2.1 Severity: important
Dear Maintainer, the package libtext-string-hexconvert-perl is no longer part of the stable or testing Debian distribution, because there exists an RC bug https://bugs.debian.org/979504, which states that your mail address is not valid. On 2022-08-16, I responded to the above mentioned bug report to all three addresses mentioned in the package header: <[email protected]>: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=debian-packaging.com type=A: Host not found <[email protected]>: host aspmx.l.google.com[142.251.5.27] said: 550-5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist. Please try 550-5.1.1 double-checking the recipient's email address for typos or 550-5.1.1 unnecessary spaces. So I now start the package salvaging process for this package, since - There is no visible activity regarding the package for 9 years (except an NMU in January 2021). - The last upload was an NMU. - An RC bug (#979504) exists since January 2021, which results in package removal from stable (bullseye) and testing. - A new upstream version (0.02) exists for 6 years. @MIA-Team: I fear that Cyril is no longer active in Debian. According to https://contributors.debian.org/contributor/cyb/ the last activity was two years ago, most of his packages have NMUs or are updated by other team members. I'd like to salvage and take over the package (under the perl team umbrella). For more information about the salvaging process see https://wiki.debian.org/PackageSalvaging and https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/pkgs.en.html#package-salvaging Greetings Roland
