Yeah, unfortunately. IMHO a very bad decision. This will cause as much
havoc as the removal/deprecation of which brought. Luckily that one
has been force-reverted by the TC.

Oh, and JFTR: degrep, dfgrep, dzegrep and dzfgrep will not be
deprecated and continue to work.
