The automatically included dependency list doesn't have enough details for me to tell exactly where the problem is. We are doing a large and complicated transition this week affecting several different libraries and services that all need to be upgraded together to ensure that things like gdm (which uses gnome-shell) continue to work. I did try adding many Breaks and dependency bumps, but I'm sure I did not add enough to cover every possible attempted incomplete upgrade.
