Hello, I just ran into this on a package that I haven't updated since 2018-06-03 (fvwm). The result was as mentioned, the full changelog was trimmed and I was left with only a single changelog entry. I noticed this because lintian triggered initial-upload-closes-no-bugs since the changelog had a single entry.
I second that the trimming should keep a minimum number of past entries, either based on number of changelog versions, number of lines, or minimum filesystem size. jaimos
