I've contacted the upstream authors about this prospective package [1].

They indicated that there is not a desire to have their package in Debian due
to the long release cycle. There are a few changes that would need to be made
but without their interest or consent, it seems stuck. It is in good shape and
would be easy to put into Debian due to most of the packaging (e.g. /debian) 

being done, however.
