For some reason x11-common did not create the /usr/X11R6/bin symlink for
me. That was after the upgrade had failed at first because I still had
some files in that directory. I couldn't reproduce the problem now.
x11-common creates the symlink every time I reinstall it. Weird ...

So, everything seems to be working now. Sorry for the noise.
