Control: tags -1 newcomer help Hello!
You are right, the current autopkgstest is extremely trivial and only checks that the program runs at all[1]. Upstream Makefile has various test targets. Some of them might not be compatible with autopkgtest[3,4] due to doing weird stuff as root user to the filesystem, but many of those tests should run just fine in autopkgtests. Personally, my time budget for maintaining this package this spring is used up now, so I am hoping a newcomer to Debian could contribute to this. This would be a useful addition and I am happy to test and review any Merge Requests on https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/rdiff-backup (or even upstream https://github.com/rdiff-backup/rdiff-backup) [1] https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/rdiff-backup/-/tree/debian/master/debian/tests [2] https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/packages/rdiff-backup/-/blob/debian/master/Makefile [3] https://manpages.debian.org/unstable/autopkgtest/autopkgtest.1.en.html [4] https://salsa.debian.org/ci-team/autopkgtest/-/tree/master/doc
