Cdrecord needs to be run suid root (works only with non broken Linux kernels)
or as root.

As the relation between the /dev/sg* device nodes on Linux and the
real hardware is not constant over time, cdrecord needs to open all
/dev/sg* wntries and search for the drive.

If you run cdrecord with the needed permissions this will of course work.....
